AMERICANS UNITED HOUSTON CHAPTER TO HOST FUND-RAISING CONCERT
Singer/Songwriter Catie Curtis Will Appear With Voices United Concert Series

The Houston Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State will host singer/songwriter Catie Curtis Feb. 1 for a local concert. The event is part of Americans United for Separation of Church and State’s national Voices United concert series.
The concert will be held in the home of Tony Carroll and Bruce Smith at 3702 Woodhead Street, Houston. Tickets are $20 at the door. Attendees are invited to arrive at 8 p.m. for a wine- and-cheese reception, followed by the concert at 8:30. All proceeds will benefit Americans United.
Americans United Executive Director Barry W. Lynn will speak briefly about AU’s work and the way many church-state issues affect the LGBT and feminist communities.
Curtis is a veteran of the singer/songwriter folk scene who has toured throughout the United States for more than 20 years. She has released 13 CDs, and her credits include touring with Lilith Fair and winning Grand Prize in the 2006 International Songwriting Competition (with co-writer Mark Erelli).Curtis’ songs appear in numerous films and television shows. She has been called a “folk-rock goddess” by The New Yorker and has performed at the White House several times. (Her website is www.catiecurtis.com.)
